This summer has been a HOT one. Every day was hotter than the next and as we slowly creep into September, the heat has not given up yet.
As much as I love the summer, our dogs do not love the heat. Our normal two mile walks would dwindle down to barely half a mile because it would be just too hot for them. It’s not healthy for the dogs to be out in this type of heat.
But with fall around the corner, cooler days are in our future. It’s so important to take your dogs on long walks during these cool days. Winter will be here before we know it (NOOOOOOO!) and soon those dogs will be cooped up inside once again.
When the weather is a touch cooler, we go on long walks with them at night. I also try to squeeze in a morning walk here and there to drain some of their energy.
I don’t claim to be a dog expert, but I write about my experiences with my two dogs. Fresh air and exercise is not only important for the dogs, but for me as well. We all get to clear our heads and get some exercise in the process.
How did you beat the heat this summer?
